For 9 months people warned me of the sleep deprevation that was going to go along with having a new baby but nobody prepared me for this. Addysin has Acid Reflux and colic. We thought we would bring her home, she would sleep in her bassinet, swing in her swing, play on a blanket on the floor. Then we were introduced to the world of AR and Colic. It has been one hell of an eye opener! She has to be at 30 degrees all the time. Her bassinet is too low, her crib is too low, her swing is too low, even her car seat is too low. So she sleeps on an AR pillow (in the picture) These things are well worth the money. They have a sling to hold her on there and then it holds her 30 degrees to slow the acid from coming up. She also has a chair that holds her at the same angle and rocks. She has to eat at 30 degrees and be kept up for a half an hour after she eats. She has to eat smaller amounts more frequently. About 2 oz every 2 hours. So that means by the time she eats, stays up for 30 mins, then falls back to sleep we only have about an hour before we start over. (If we are lucky). It isn't so bad in the day time but this routine at night is horrid. She and I are rooming in the living room so that Daddy can get some sleep to go to work in the mornings. Someone told us that catnip tea would help with the colic. It is good for the digestive system and also relaxes her so she can sleep. The other night I gave her her tea and we went to bed. Next thing knew it was 6:00 a.m. and I was panicked! At first I thought that I had forgot to wake up and feed her so I was running around the house counting dirty bottles. I only found 2. One I knew was out of the diaper bag from our trip to Grandma's and the other was from our 11:00 feeding. So I finally came to the conclusion that we had slept 6 hours. I was so excited I wanted to call everyone!! And I did but I waited until later. I don't think any of them would have appreciated a 6 am phone call!!!! It was short lived though. The next night she never shut her eyes!! So what I have learned from all of this is that everyone will tell you of things that help or didn't help. TRY THEM ALL. About the time we gave up and decided not to try anything else we found the catnip tea. When we were ready to give up again, we found the AR pillow....both life savers!
